Please track and remember your dreams! If you do not have a practice of remembering dreams, here are a few guidelines...
- Before you go to sleep, speak with the Dreammaker and share why you want to remember your dreams, why it is important for you to remember them (if it is).
- Or, feel your longing in your whole body for a dream and the gift of remembering its potency in the morning, really feel the strength of your desire. Also notice if any parts of you are scared or sceptical or feeling strongly in another way. Welcome them, love on them and return to your longing.
- Have your journal or a piece of paper of for recording, your phone, next to your bed. If you are writing in a journal, write at the top of the page; the date and your intention to remember a dream and then leave the page blank with a pen at the ready.
- In the night if you wake or in the morning, don't move! Let the dream or dream image be present in your heart/mind/body. Play out the whole dream like a movie in your minds eye or in your kinesthetics sensation. Then, write it down or speak it into your phone in the present moment.
-Give thanks.
- If it doesn't work, try again the next night, be kind to yourself. This is a skill which can be learned and must be practiced.
When you do remember one, please go out to a wildish place and sit in Dream Council with Earth. Let yourself be invited by one of the wild ones to share dreams. When you arrive, create a sacred space by greeting the 4 directions, the beings in the place and inviting the wise and well ancestors of yourself and the place and the beings within it to be present. Share your intention and why you have come and your request that one there would share a dream with you. Listen to their dream and their dreaming. You may also feel moved to speak, sing, dance, create land art as an offering in return.
Learning to listen can be a slow process, so please do not be hard on yourself when practicing. You might receive sensations in the body, you might receive words or images, you might experience emotions or memories, you might hear music or voices. All this and more are ways that the wild ones speak with us. Each one of us has a facility or capacity for one or more of these ways, please be patient and trust that your way is the right way for you.
Afterwards, share your dream and notice which parts were especially emotional or strongly filled with one of your senses. Afterwards, listen and watch for how the world responds. Lastly, give gratitude for the dream council. You may wish to do this daily or as often as possible.
If you decide to share dreams with a human, which is also a beautiful practice, please drop into the dreamscape and tell the dream in the first person to them. Listener, please resist interpreting or explaining the dream, just let the dream of one person be present with each other and then the dream of the other.
