Dear friends,
I hope this letter finds you well and thriving, even in these initiatory times of death and crisis. I am filled with a strange sense of magic at the threshold of beginning a time of wandering and pilgrimage that Mystery is inviting me into. It is time to step onto the path of the nomad, the bard, the storyteller and ritualist who travels along the web, following the threads of resonance and calling songs of Earth. Tracking the Ecotone of Desire - the place where my own aliveness and the aliveness of Earth meet, where my desire and the desire of Earth (through humans, dreams, synchronicities) co-create an ecotone of generativity, psycho-spiritual biodiversity and Beauty. The ritual of right relationship and reciprocity in which we feed Life. Watered with grief and love
At the end of February I will be traveling in my van from Maine to Washington state (most likely). I want to offer songs, stories and libations as I go on pilgrimage to honor Earth and bless the particular time of dying and transformation we are in… Saying yes to being a Holy Death Doula, a nomadic storyteller and bard.
While speaking with my dear friend, Alicia Enciso about my idea, she was sharing about her practice of making offerings to Corn Mother (see her Substack, offerings for Corn Mother - @aliciaencisolitschi1) and the and listening to the Ancestors, the Earth and the Holy. It made me think of the practice of offering libations. I heard Bayo Akomolafe share the story about Ra, the sun god, lying as a drunkard on the side of the road and the people insulting him as they walk by. Outraged, he flies back to the realm of the gods and tells Hathor (his wife/daughter/sister/mother) to avenge his disgrace and ravage the humans. She does so, destroying and killing all day and in the morning drinking the pools of blood on the ground. Ra and the other gods and humans meet to stop her rampage, and they decide to pour wine on the ground so that she drinks the wine, rather than the blood. She becomes drunk and forgets her vengeance. The humans vow to remember to offer libations to Hathor and the gods to honor the Holy. https://www.bayoakomolafe.net/post/coming-down-to-earth
As we hear reports of folks getting killed by Federal Agents in the USA, and genocide and war continuing in other parts of the world, I have been thinking, "Might we offer libations instead of the sacrifice of blood being shed in this way?" It has made me think about hungry ghosts born of the years of genocide and slavery in the USA by the people who were themselves taken from their homes, their people and their land from Europe. Feeling the Great Forgetting that is the Civilisation Trauma of being christianized and de-indigenized that has spread throughout the world as colonization…

Would you join me in a month of offering libations- full moon-ish to full moon-ish? If you feel called to join me in your home place wherever you are in the world,
from March 1 - April1, 2026
I would love to have join me to offer libations to the Earth and pray the prayers of your people for these times, feeding the Hungry Ghosts and the Holy Dead. Let us offer libations for the death throes of Modernity and the dying of the current paradigm. Let us make Holy, make Sacred, offer prayers of eros, love, beauty, and life to feed Death.
I will be on pilgrimage to offer libations of wine or water, stories of right relationship with the Holy and one another in the Web of Life (the one mentioned above and others) and original and improvised songs. I do not know what map I will be following or where Earth will call me to. If you so wish to invite me to your community and to your home place to offer an evening of stories and libations in order to make Holy these times and offer the blood of our grief, our longing, our love to the Holy of Holies, I would be honored. Let us meet as Holy Death Doulas and offer rituals of feeding the hungry ghosts, feeding Death with life and beauty together.
I look forward to possibly meeting some of you in person!
